Anayansi Prado is nationally known for heartfelt films that take viewers behind the headlines. She brings more than 20 years of experience to her work, and crafts films that illuminate contemporary cultural conversations and invite dialog.
Anayansi’s award-winning films have aired nationally on PBS, and have premiered at SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Full Frame, and others. She has been recognized with a Concordia Fellowship award, a Chicken & Egg Award, a Rockefeller Media Fellowship and a Creative Capital Artist. Her work has been supported by The Sundance Institute, The MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, ITVS, Perspective Fund, and Tribeca Studios.
A noted public speaker, instructor and guest lecturer, Prado has served as a mentor and instructor for programs such as Sundance Co//ab, Film Independent Documentary Lab, Firelight Media Lab, Chicken and Egg Alumni Nest, Sisters in Cinema Fellowship, and others. She has been a visiting film professor at UCLA's Film School graduate program, Chapman University's Film Department and Cal State Northridge Journalist Department.
Anayansi is cultural envoy for the State Department’s Program The American Film Showcase and has taught documentary workshops in 5 continents.
