2011 | 75 MIN
BROADCAST: PBS (USA) I IBERMEDIA (EUROPE & LATIN AMERICA)
PARAISO FOR SALE is an award-winning documentary that explores the effects the fast-growing migration of American retirees and developers is having on the local community of Bocas del Toro, a small archipelago in Panama. It documents the personal stories of an indigenous leader fighting American developers for his land, a retired American couple who have invested their live's savings into their dream home, and a local businessman inspired to run for mayor after his land is taken by foreigners. PARAISO FOR SALE explores issues of modern day colonialism, residential tourism and global gentrification -- while revealing that migration between Latin America and the US is not just a one-way street.
