Anayansi has taught film production and photography classes in a variety of formats and settings around the world. She teaches film workshops and master classes in developing countries as a film expert for American Film Showcase and cultural envoy for the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In 2008, she co-founded a non-profit, Impacto Project, that provides photography classes for under served youth in rural areas in the developing world. Anayansi has also taught workshops on visual storytelling at the university level. She has taught in Burma, Singapore, China, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Mozambique, Angola & Bosnia.
Anayansi is regularly invited to speak at university conferences and symposia on topics ranging from film production, women of color in the media, and subjects covered in her films such as immigration, undocumented workers, and Latinos in the US.
